Worry, worry, worry. That’s my natural mind whirring away at a billion knots an hour. How are we going to pay that bill? What about this bill? How can we afford to buy new school uniforms? What are we going to do when the mortgage payment is due?

It’s no use pretending. Money worries used to keep me awake at night, tossing and turning, wondering how we would stay afloat. And when I was tired the problems would become a million times worse. I knew the Bible told me not to worry about tomorrow but I couldn’t flick the worry switch in my mind off.

Recently though I stumbled across Colossians 3:15 and discovered a new worry-free city, a City of Peace.

It says ‘let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.’

For a little while that worry switch flicked right off. Ok, so the next day another bill dropped through the letter box, bringing worry back again. But as I drank my coffee and sneaked one of Mrs Mindmap’s glorious cookies something prompted me to remember Colossians 3:15. I’ve got to chose to decide to let the peace rule. I can do that.  And letting God’s peace rule is going to change me. Every time worry tries to muscle in, I’m going back to that worry-free city.

Goodbye worry-wrinkles, hello fresh, worry-free thinking.
